The Workers’ Provident Fund Organization (EPFO), also known as the EPF passbook, provides account holders in the Provident Fund (PF) with a digital passbook. All account activity, including deposits, earnings, and withdrawals, is documented in the EPF passbook. With the help of this digital passbook, you can keep track of the PF balance, employer contributions, and interest earned.
The e-passbook can also be used as proof of contributions and balance to a loan or other financial service. However, before employees can use this feature, they must create an EPFO account and activate their UAN. You can verify your PF balance and activate your UAN number on the EPFO website.
Procedures for activating your UAN number Go to the EPFO website.
- “For Employees” should be selected from the services section.
- Select “Member UAN/Online Service” from the list of services.
- In the new window, select the “Activate UAN” hyperlink.
- Along with your UAN or member ID, you must enter your name, date of birth, and mobile number.
- Click “Get Authorization Pin” to receive an OTP to your registered mobile number.
- Entering your OTP and clicking “Validate OTP and Activate UAN” will activate your UAN.
- A password will be sent to your mobile number.
- With your UAN and password, you can now access other services and your EPF passbook.
Checking your PF balance on the EPFO website
To begin, visit the EPFO’s (Employees’ Provident Fund Organization) official website at www.epfindia.gov.in.
The “Services” menu has an option called “Member Passbook.” First, go to the main menu’s “For Employees” section to access the services for employees. From the drop-down menu, select “Member Passbook.”
By logging in with these details, you can access your EPF account passbook using only your Universal Account Number (UAN) and password. If you don’t already have them, you can get them from your employer or from the EPFO website.
After selecting the member’s id, select “View Passbook” to view the member’s passbook. Select the appropriate member id from the drop-down menu after logging in. Select “View Passbook” to view information about your EPF account.
The information about the PF that follows will be displayed. After clicking the “See Passbook” button, the details of your EPF account will be displayed. You can see your transactions’ history, your account balance, and how much your employer and you have contributed.
Use the “Download Passbook” tab to print your passbook. By clicking the “Download Passbook” button, you can get a copy of your EPF account statement that you can print out.
