The new interest rate of 8.10 percent applies to deposits made into the EPF between April 2022 and March 2023. In a written response to the Lok Sabha on Monday (March 13), Minister of State for Labor and Employment Rameshwar Teli stated that 98% of contributing businesses or establishments have updated their employee provident fund (EPF) member accounts with the most recent interest credit through March 6, 2023.
Minister Rameshwar Teli stated, “This (interest crediting) is an ongoing process, which has been taken up in a scheduled manner post development of software and has been completed in respect of 98% of contributory establishments by March 6, 2023.”
The minister claims that adding interest to a member’s passbook is only an entry process; The date that the interest is recorded has no real effect on how much interest is earned for the year.
