September 28 marks the culmination of the 10-day extravagant festivities of Ganesh Chaturthi. With a heavy heart, devotees bid farewell to Lord Ganesha by immersing his idol in a water body. Ganesh Chaturthi celebrations began on September 18 and are concluding today, on the Chaturdashi date of Shukla Paksha of Bhadrapada month. The Visarjan Day is also called Anant Chaturdashi.

Auspicious Timing for Ganesh Immersion-
As per Drik Panchang, the Chaturthi Tithi begins at 10:18 PM on September 27 and ends at 06:49 PM on September 28. The morning Muhurat (shubha) is 06:12 AM to 07:42 AM. The morning Muhurat (Chara, Labha, Amrita) is 10:42 AM to 03:11 PM. The afternoon Muhurat (Shubha) is from 04:41 PM to 06:11 PM and the evening Muhurat (Amrita, Chara) is from 06:11 PM to 09:12 PM. Finally, the night Muhurat (Labha) is 12:12 AM to 01:42 AM, Sep 29.
As per the expert, here’s how one should carry out the rituals of the Ganesh Visarjan-
Take a bath, wear clean clothes and apply tilak. Worship Bappa by sitting in front of the idol.
Use whole grain rice, kumkum, flowers, incense sticks, and lamps and chant the mantra Om Gan Ganpataye Namo Namah.
Perform aarti of Bappa by lighting a ghee lamp and camphor. Seek blessings of the Lord for yourself and your family by wishing for prosperity and happiness. Pray to welcome him again the next year.
Next, remove the idol of Lord Ganesh from its installed place. You can bid farewell to the Lord by playing the drums and dancing.
If you installed a small idol of Lord Ganesha, then you can easily immerse it in a bucket or tub filled with water at home. You can keep that water and the clay remnants of the idol under a Peepal tree. However, if you have a huge idol, then immerse the idol in lakes or ponds.
