Vandoorne completed the podium, while Daruvala’s race was hampered by Attack Mode activation problems.
Jaguar displayed exemplary teamwork to win the 2024 Monaco E-Prix, with Mitch Evans taking victory ahead of his teammate Nick Cassidy. DS Penske’s Stoffel Vandoorne finished the incident-packed race, which saw two Safety Car periods, in third place to deny his own teammate Jean-Eric Vergne a podium finish.

Jaguar pull off strategy masterclass
The Jaguar duo moved into the lead on Lap 11 as Pascal Wehrlein and Vandoorne took their Attack Mode activations. Cassidy and Evans then alternated positions to hold off the chasing pack while both drivers took their own Attack Mode boosts.
Evans held a slight energy advantage over Cassidy and took the lead on Lap 17. The two held on to that position till the chequered flag, with Cassidy later coming on the radio to say “I think I get the teammate of the year award.”
DS Penske also played a strong team game, with Vandoorne taking the final podium spot ahead of Vergne. Porsche driver Wehrlein crossed the line in fifth place, ahead of Nissan’s Oliver Rowland, who charged from P15 to P6. Porsche’s other driver, Antonio Felix da Costa, dropped to the back of the field early in the race after being caught up in a multi-car tangle. But he recovered to finish seventh. Sacha Fenestraz, Max Guenther and Norman Nato completed the top 10.
19-year-old Taylor Barnard was called up to replace McLaren’s Sam Bird at the last moment after Bird injured his hand in the practice session. Despite being slowest in qualifying, he finished a commendable 14th in the race.
Attack Mode problems hamper Daruvala
Maserati’s Jehan Daruvala made a clean start from 10th on the grid and had risen up to eighth place. However, he encountered issues while trying to activate Attack Mode and lost vital track position as a result.
“Today’s race was very frustrating, especially after a decent Qualifying. I made good progress at the start, but my Attack Mode activation wasn’t working. I tried to take it six or seven times without success which cost me a lot of places. There isn’t much we can do in that scenario, but we’ll regroup for Berlin,” said Daruvala, who had to settle for P20.
No points for Mahindra
Mahindra once again was unable to score any points. Edoardo Mortara retired early on after a technical issue saw him hitting the wall. Nyck de Vries was managing his energy consumption well, however, his strategy was hampered by a late-race Safety Car and he ended up finishing P12.
2024 Formula E championship standings
Wehrlein holds on to the championship lead, with a seven points advantage over Cassidy. After finishing down in 19th place at Monaco, Andretti’s Jake Dennis drops to third overall in the standings, six points behind Cassidy.
Formula E will now head to Berlin for a double-header on May 11 and 12.
