Former TCS CFO V Ramakrishnan passes away


Tata Consultancy Services’ () former chief financial Officer Venkatraman Ramakrishnan passed away in Bengaluru on Thursday morning following a heart attack.


He was 65 years old. He is survived by his wife Bhavani Ramakrishnan and daughter Madhuri Ramakrishnan.

Ramakrishnan retired from TCS in April last year after serving Tata group companies for nearly four decades. Fondly known as “Ramki”, he worked at

and before joining TCS in 1999 where he served as the finance head of TCS North America for seven years.

He then joined the TCS management as vice president of finance, where he worked for 14 years.

In February 2017, after Rajesh Gopinathan was elevated as chief executive of TCS, Ramakrishnan was appointed CFO.

“We are deeply saddened about the demise of our former CFO, V Ramakrishnan, in Bangalore today,” TCS said in a statement. “Ramki’s invaluable contributions across his many roles left an indelible mark on TCS. He was above all a true gentleman who would always have a smile and a nice word for everyone. Today, TCSers have lost not just an esteemed leader, but a man who stood true to his values and lived his life with utmost humility.”

An alumnus of Loyola College, Chennai, Ramakrishna began his stint with the Tata group as an accounts officer in 1981.
