Flipkart appoints Nandita Sinha as new Myntra CEO

Bengaluru: Flipkart-owned fashion portal Myntra has appointed Nandita Sinha as its new chief executive officer (CEO) to replace its outgoing chief executive Amar Nagaram, according to people briefed on the matter. This is also the first time a woman executive will be at this position in the ecommerce group.

Sinha will move to her new role from January 1, 2022. As
reported by ET earlier, Nagaram is leaving Myntra to start his own venture but he will stay with Myntra till the end of December. Sinha’s replacement is yet to be finalised in Flipkart. Nagaram has been with Flipkart for almost seven years before moving to Myntra as its CEO in 2019.

Sinha has been with Flipkart since 2013 and most recently she was the VP for customer growth, media and engagement, at the company. She has also been actively engaged with Flipkart’s flagship Diwali sale event Big Billion Days and is said to be a close aide of Flipkart Group CEO Kalyan Krishnamurthy.

A Flipkart Group spokesperson didn’t immediately respond to ET’s query on Friday morning.

This comes at a time when online retail has seen a recovery in sales in the aftermath of Covid-19 pandemic which impacted the fashion segment harder compared to others. ET reported in September that Flipkart Group was on track to
clock annualised gross merchandise value (GMV) of $23 billion in 2021 and about $3 billion would be coming from Myntra.

Sinha moves to Myntra at a time when the fashion etailer has been widening its offerings in segments like beauty and personal care besides experimenting with influencer-led live commerce shopping. ET reported earlier this month that it has
started testing influencer-led live online shopping on its platform, becoming one of the first major ecommerce platforms in India to experiment with the model which has been a success in China.
