First M4 chipset to Tandem OLED display: Top 5 features of the new iPad Pro -DellyRanks

Apple announced a much-needed upgrade to its iPad range at the company’s Let Loose event on Tuesday. The more affordable iPad Pro now comes with a tandem OLED panel, an M4 chipset, a slimmer design, upgraded accessories and a host of other features.

Here’s a look at the top 5 features of the iPad Pro:

1) First-ever M4 chip:

Apple unveiled its first-ever M4 chipset with the latest iPad Pro on Tuesday. The new processor runs on 3-nanometre technology, which is said to be more power efficient and deliver up to 1.5x improved CPU performance compared to the M2 chipset in the last-gen iPad Pro.

The latest processor also comes with a new display engine that is touted to deliver better precision, colour and brightness on the new OLED Ultra Retina XDR display.

2) Focus on AI:

Apple is finally jumping on the AI bandwagon, with the company positioning the latest iPad Pro as an “outrageously powerful device for AI”. Apple says that the M4 chipset comes with its most powerful neural engine to date, capable of 38 trillion operations per second.

Apple claims that the neural engine on the M4 chipset is even more powerful than on any AI PC today, enabling the iPad to perform AI-enabled tasks faster.

Additionally, the advanced frameworks on the iPadOS are touted to make it easy for developers to use the neural engine to deliver AI capabilities such as running diffusion or generative AI models on the device.

3) Thinnest Apple product:

With the addition of a new OLED panel, Apple has managed to significantly reduce the thickness of its iPad Pro range. The latest iPad Pro is being touted as the ‘thinnest Apple product ever’, with the 11-inch model measuring just 5.33mm thick, while the 13-inch variant is 5.1mm thick. Apple has also managed to significantly reduce the weight of its iPad Air and iPad Pro models, making the Pro series lighter than its Air counterpart for the first time ever.

4) OLED display:

In a first for Apple, the tech giant has finally decided to add OLED panels to its iPad Pro lineup. The new iPad Pro features an OLED Ultra Retina XDR display with tandem OLED technology, which combines light from two OLED panels to provide full-screen brightness.

Apple says Tandem OLED technology helps photos and video appear brighter while preserving detail in shadows and low light, and is more responsive to moving content.

5) New accessories:

Apple has introduced a new iteration of iPad Pro accessories, including the Magic Keyboard and Apple Pencil Pro. The Magic Keyboard can be magnetically attached to the iPad Pro, and the smart connector eliminates the need to connect via Bluetooth.

The new accessory features a new function row with buttons such as screen brightness and volume controls. It also comes with a larger trackpad, as well as an aluminium hinge and palm rest. Apple says the new Magic Keyboard has been designed to give the new iPad Pro a more MacBook-like feel.

Meanwhile, the Apple Pencil has received its first major upgrade since 2018. The new Apple Pencil Pro comes with new features, including a squeeze gesture that allows users to perform a variety of tasks. Apple is also bringing support for ‘Find My’ to the Pencil Pro, which enables users to locate their misplaced accessory.
