A fire broke out at the residence of late actor Sadashiv Amarapurkar in Suman Apartment, Ahmednagar. The incident, caused by a short circuit, occurred around 2 pm. The fire department promptly dispatched a fire brigade, bringing the situation under control.

Reports indicate that Sadashiv Amarapurkar owned four flats in Suman Apartment, and the affected flat was registered in his wife Sunanda Sadashiv Amarapurkar’s name. A tenant named Jyoti Bhor Pathane was present in the flat during the incident. Firefighters successfully rescued her from the premises, although she suffered minor injuries and received immediate medical attention at a nearby hospital.

Ahmednagar holds significance for Sadashiv Amarapurkar, being his birthplace. Before making a mark in films, the actor had an extensive background in theatre. His cinematic debut was in Govind Nihalani’s film Ardh Satya. The actor, coming from a humble background, faced a dilemma in selecting from over 60 film offers that followed his debut.

In an interview with Harikrit Films, Sadashiv Amarapurkar shared insights into his early days in the industry. He admitted to not knowing who prominent filmmakers like Yash Chopra and BR Chopra were when he entered the entertainment industry.

Reflecting on those times, he said, “In those days, in 1982, I had over 60 film offers and I didn’t know what to do with these many film offers. I didn’t even know who BR Chopra or Yash Chopra were at that time. When we were kids, we only knew the names of the actors, Shammi Kapoor, Dilip Kumar, or Manoj Kumar; we only knew of them. We never even read the names of the directors.”

Following advice from an old friend, he decided to gain experience in the field by working in commercial films, thus beginning his cinematic journey.

Sadashiv Amarapurkar’s last appearance on the silver screen was in Dibakar Banerjee’s Bombay Talkies, where he played a cameo role. The actor, aged 64, passed away on November 3, 2014, due to a lung infection.
