Karan Singh Grover shared that he wasn’t afraid of Hrithik Roshan getting more attention in Fighter.
Karan Singh Grover opened up about his latest Bollywood release Fighter starring Hrithik Roshan, Deepika Padukone.
Hrithik Roshan and Deepika Padukone starrer Fighter has been getting an overwhelming response from the audience. The aerial action thriller, released on January 25, is ruling at the box office. Besides Hrithik and Deepika, the film also features a talented ensemble cast comprising Anil Kapoor and Karan Singh Grover. Karan Singh Grover who essayed Squadron Leader Sartaj ‘Taj’ Gill from the Air Dragons unit revealed in an interview that he wasn’t worried about Hrithik Roshan getting more attention.
During an interview with the news agency PTI, Karan Singh Grover explained, “I was not afraid of the fact… I mean Hrithik is Hrithik. He has worked hard to be what he is, and he gets attention sometimes even when he doesn’t want it. He gets attention from all of us too… It’s not like there’s ever a fear because that is a different point of view and a different way of thinking which I don’t have.”
He added, “Siddharth molded the characters and helped create the web that is holding the emotion, that is of love for the country. The Air Force is about a whole bunch of brave people, it’s not about one person. So, it never occurred that he will get (all) the attention. It’s amazing that everyone feels I played it well, people cried for my character. That’s like the truest form of love. Every actor or performer has a dream to touch people’s heart through the characters they play, and that has happened with me. It’s beautiful and amazing. I’m lucky to be a part of this film and to be given this role to play.”
On day 15, Fighter made Rs 2.65 crore at the Indian box office (across all languages), as per a Sacnilk report. In total, the film has collected Rs 187.40 crore, the report added. Released on January 25, Fighter featured Hrithik Roshan as Squadron Leader Shamsher Pathania (aka Patty) and Deepika Padukone in the role of Squadron Leader Minal Rathore (aka Mini). The cast also included Anil Kapoor as Group Captain Rakesh Jai Singh, Karan Singh Grover as Sartaj Gill, and Akshay Oberoi as Basheer Khan.
In a recent interview with Galatta Plus, Siddharth Anand spoke about why the film may not have worked at the box office. He said, “Fighter is a huge leap. As filmmakers do this in the country, and the kind of genre it is. It’s a space that is unexplored, and is absolutely new. It has no reference point for the audience, that means what they are seeing is a little… accha… such big stars, a commercial director, accha ye planes kya kar rahi he [what are these planes doing?] I am like is this my film, I don’t know this.”
