The BTS promo of Coolie gives a sneak peek into the film’s intense moments with Rajinikanth fully immersed in his role.

Rajinikanth’s fans have a reason to celebrate as his upcoming film Coolie, directed by Lokesh Kanagaraj, has officially finished shooting. To mark the occasion, the makers dropped a brand-new promo packed with behind-the-scenes action. The video gives a sneak peek into the film’s intense moments with Rajinikanth fully immersed in his role while Kanagaraj directs the scenes.
Fans also get a glimpse of the film’s star-studded cast, including Nagarjuna Akkineni, Shruti Haasan, Upendra Rao and Soubin Shahir. Sharing the update on Instagram, the makers wrote in the caption: “It’s a super wrap for #Coolie.”

After the promo was shared online, the comment section was flooded with reactions from fans who couldn’t contain their excitement for Thalaivar’s new movie.
One user wrote, “Kollywood’s 1st 1000 crore loading.” Another simply cheered, “Superstar Rajinikanth.” A Telugu fan added, “Telugu fans eagerly waiting for Coolie.”
Rajinikanth’s Coolie is shaping up to be a massive entertainer and even before its release it is already making waves. Reports suggest that a major streaming platform has acquired the digital rights for a staggering Rs 120 crore. While there is no official confirmation yet, Koimoi reports that Amazon Prime Video has secured the deal which makes it one of the biggest ever for an Indian film. For comparison, Rajinikanth’s previous blockbuster Jailer was reportedly acquired by the same platform for Rs 100 crore.
Along with Rajinikanth, the film features an ensemble cast which includes actors like Nagarjuna Akkineni, Upendra Rao, Soubin Shahir, Sathyaraj, Shruti Haasan, Reba Monica John, Junior MGR and Monisha Blessy. Coolie is being produced under the Sun Pictures banner by Kalanithi Maran.
Earlier, on Kanagaraj’s birthday on March 14, the production house treated fans to a series of behind-the-scenes snapshots just like the recent BTS promo.
Initially announced in September 2023 under the working title Thalaivar 171, the film was officially titled Coolie in April 2024. While the makers are yet to finalise the release date, they are considering August 14 along with possible festival releases in September and October which coincides with Onam and Diwali.
The plot of Coolie remains under wraps but reports suggests that Rajinikanth will take on a character with grey shades.
Meanwhile, the superstar is also gearing up for Jailer 2, directed by Nelson Dilipkumar. The sequel will continue the story of Jailer which will bring back Rajinikanth as the formidable “Tiger” Muthuvel Pandian. The film is expected to make its theatrical debut in December this year.
