Working with an ensemble cast of Ajay Devgn, Sonakshi Sinha and Sanjay Dutt in her debut film triggered a sense of uncertainty for Pranitha.
Pranitha Subhash has managed to capture the audience’s attention across various regional cinemas, including Kannada, Telugu, Tamil, Hindi, and Malayalam. Her role in Abhishek Dudhaiya’s Bhuj: The Pride of India was well-appreciated. Pranitha essayed the role of Ajay Devgn’s wife in the movie. However, she was initially apprehensive whether she would be able to “stand out enough” in a film full of A-listers like Ajay, Sonakshi Sinha and Sanjay Dutt.
Pranitha Subhash shared her experience of working with Ajay Devgn in an interview with Hindustan Times. She recalled the time when she was cast as a Marathi wife in the film. The filmmakers believed that her “south-Indian looks” made her a suitable fit for the role. However, being part of an ensemble cast in her debut film triggered a sense of uncertainty for Pranitha. Expressing her apprehension, she revealed doubts about her ability to stand out amidst the notable cast.
While playing her character was not a linguistic challenge for Pranitha, she admitted that the dynamics of Hindi cinema were different from what she was accustomed to in the South. “That could have been the toughest part for me because back in the day it was you are the hero’s wife or something then you are the only one…now it is not like that. And, in the south it is clear if you have a song with the hero or this sequence which will make you stand out. Here, it felt different, that was the tough part. Hindi was not a challenge as I had very few dialogues,” she said.
When Pranitha was questioned about the challenges she encountered in her career, she revealed that one of the toughest hurdles was convincing her family about her choice of profession. Her parents, who are both doctors, had an expectation that she would follow in their footsteps. “You know, how normally these things work (Parents expect children to take after their profession),” she added.
In the same conversation, Pranitha, who became a mother last year, talked about the challenges of balancing motherhood with her professional commitments. She discussed the difficulties of stepping out of the house for work, particularly in the context of working on films along with looking after her infant. Pranitha expressed that working on movie sets presented a significant challenge, given the demands of her role and the fact that she just had a newborn baby. “Even if we planned to get the baby and her father to the location, it would be hard. Shooting a movie with a small baby around was also tough for everyone around.”
Apart from Bhuj: The Pride of India, Pranitha Subhash also appeared in Bollywood movies such as Hungama 2. She will soon make her Malayalam debut with Ratheesh Raghunandan’s Thankamani.
