Divya’s performance in the film has not only garnered critical acclaim but also highlighted her remarkable ability to go above and beyond for her craft.
Divya Khossla has captivated audiences with her latest film, Savi. The movie has secured the No. 1 spot on Netflix in several countries, including Sri Lanka, Bahrain, Pakistan, UAE, Saudi Arabia, Oman, Qatar, Bangladesh and Mauritius. Featuring Harshvardhan Rane and Anil Kapoor in pivotal roles, Savi showcases Divya’s remarkable performance, which has been praised by critics and underscores her commitment to her craft.
To portray her character authentically, Divya went to extraordinary lengths. During the 45-day shoot, Divya wore only two pairs of jeans instead of any glamorous outfits. She also filmed her scenes in freezing temperatures and faced physical challenges, including getting banged by an iron grill. Speaking about the same during the trailer launch, Divya revealed that she got small cuts on her face from the iron. Divya was frightened by this incident, but Anil Kapoor helped her recover.
Directed by Abhinay Deo, Savi is an action drama film which is based on the American action thriller The Next Three Days. It is about a simple housewife who attempts a daring jailbreak to free her husband from one of England’s high-security prisons, which houses 400 inmates, 75 armed guards and 60 surveillance cameras. In the film, Divya plays the role of Savi Sachdev (Savitri), Harshvardhan portrays Nakul Sachdev and Anil Kapoor is seen as J Paul (Joydeep).
During the trailer launch of the film, Divya also spoke about her character. She said, “My role in ‘Savi’ is unlike anything I’ve done before. Essaying this character was both challenging and intriguing, and because the character is very layered, you will see different shades and sides of Savi.”
Divya started her career as a model and later appeared in several music videos. She made her acting debut in 2004 with the Telugu film Love Today, alongside Uday Kiran. Divya made her Bollywood debut with Ab Tumhare Hawale Watan Saathiyo that same year. She played the role of Shweta, the wife of Major Rajeev Singh (Played by Akshay Kumar). Besides acting, Divya ventured into directing in 2014 with her first project Yaariyan. The film featured Himansh Kohli and Rakul Preet Singh in the lead roles.
