Doug Hanson named as CEO of Wipro subsidiary Topcoder


Bengaluru: has appointed Doug Hanson as chief executive officer for Topcoder- a crowdsourced tech solutions platform for developers, designers and data scientists.


Hanson replaces Mike Morris who had quit the company in March this year. He brings 25 years of leadership in scaling marketplace businesses and his breadth of experience in sales, marketing, product, and operations will be critical to Topcoder’s next phase of growth, according to the Bengaluru-based parent’s exchange filing.

“Topcoder helps our customers address one of today’s most pronounced business challenges: access to skilled technology talent,” said Subha Tatavarti, chief technology officer, Wipro.

“Through Topcoder’s talent cloud platform, we customers to tap into a highly qualified global community of developers, designers and engineers who can innovate and deliver solutions at an accelerated pace. Under Doug’s leadership, Topcoder will become even more integral to our value proposition and help us advance our promise of delivering on our customers’ boldest ambitions.”

Prior to joining Topcoder, Hanson served as chief operating officer for healthcare software firm 6 Degrees Health, where he led business optimization, sales, and the go-to-market strategy. Before that, he held leadership positions at GrubHub, Amazon and Microsoft.

In 2016, Wipro had acquired US-based cloud consultancy firm Appirio for $500 million and acquired its subsidiary Topcoder as part of that deal.
