Despite rumours of a heated argument between Megan Thee Stallion and Justin Timberlake, the two artists have taken steps to clarify the situation for their fans. They have made it clear that viral footage circulating on social media should not be taken at face value. Many speculated the 28-year-old rapper and the 42-year-old NSYNC alum seemed to have embroiled themselves in a verbal spat at the 2023 MTV VMAs on Tuesday. The clip features the Savage hitmaker fixing her hair backstage when Justin appears in the crowded room. The Can’t Stop The Feeling singer suddenly leans forward to say something interrupting Megan’s glam session. But what left fans concerned was the rapper’s reaction to his comment, wherein they seemed to be arguing backstage.
It appears as though the WAP songstress was yelling at Justin and she also waved her finger around. The entire incident has left people wondering what really went about between the two. Some fans have misread both Megan and Justin’s body language.
Here’s what actually happened:
It didn’t take long for the prolific musicians to clarify they only wanted to say nice things to each other. According to Variety, a source present during the incident reveals it was nothing but a casual and cordial exchange. The insider reportedly pointed out Justin leaned in to say, “It’s so nice to meet you.” To which, Megan replied, “No, no this don’t count, this don’t count. We gotta meet proper.”
After the award show, Megan also posted a fun Instagram video alongside the NSYNC alum to publicly clarify any misunderstanding. The duo were spotted hanging out together at what seemed to be a pub enjoying each other’s company. Seated next to each other, the duo laughed serving proof of their gala outing. While sharing the video, Megan quipped, “I just talk with my hands lol Justin Timberlake love ya,” before finishing the caption with a blue heart. The Mirror singer didn’t fail to weigh in on the situation by instantly dropping a cheeky reply in the comment section. “Real hot girl s***. Never change Megan Thee Stallion,” he wrote. Notably, Megan debuted her latest single Bongos in collaboration with Cardi Live for the first time during the award show. The Sweetest Pie rapper’s hot track Her was nominated in three different categories including Best Art, Best Choreography, and Best Direction.
