Did Lata Mangeshkar Record Bhajans for Ayodhya Ram Temple Inauguration? Here’s What We Know –

Lata Mangeshkar might have recorded some devotional songs, right before her demise, for the inauguration of Ayodhya Ram Temple in 2024.

A recent report claims that the legendary singer might have recorded Ram Bhajans for the inauguration of Ram Mandir in 2024, right before her demise.

Late singer Lata Mangeshkar may no longer be with us, but her legacy lives on through her unforgettable songs and stories. She lent her melodious voice to songs in numerous Indian languages, earning her the title of “Swar Kokila.” Lata viewed music as a form of spiritual devotion and always held it in high regard. However, in the 1970s, she received an offer that most others would have found difficult to decline, yet Lata chose not to publicize her journey of dedication. As opposed to her film songs, Lata Mangeshkar contributed equally to her repertoire of devotional music. And that might be the reason why, before her demise, the singer might have recorded some bhajans and shlokas to mark the inauguration of Ram Mandir in Ayodhya.

As per a source close to Subhash K Jha for the entertainment portal Bollywood Hungama, the legendary singer recorded the Bhajans, despite facing problems standing up, “These Ram bhajans are the last recordings of Lataji. She could barely stand on her feet. But she summoned composer Mayuresh Pai and told him she wanted to do some handpicked Ram bhajans, shlokas and chants for the Ram Mandir in Ayodhya. She wanted them played at the inauguration of the Ram Mandir in Ayodhya expected to happen in January 2024,” the source shared.

Another esteemed composer and source shared, “She was singing and working right till the end. She wanted her voice to be part of the Ram Mandir. She made sure she did her recordings even as her health was failing. She is the bravest person I have ever known.”

Lata Mangeshkar died in Mumbai on February 6, 2022, aged 92, due to multiple organ failure. Her demise marked the end of an era in the Indian film industry. Asha Bhosle has cherished memories of Lata and has spoken warmly about her on numerous occasions.

The inauguration of the Sri Ram Temple is expected between January 22-24 next year by the PM. With just a few months left for the Ram Temple inauguration or Pran Pratishtha ceremony in January, Nripendra Misra, temple’s construction committee chairperson and former principal secretary to the Prime Minister, told that nearly 1.5 lakh people are expected to visit the Ram Temple in the first few days of its inauguration.
