Netizens trolled Dia Mirza for endorsing a gift box, a day after she was featured in a video advocating for no gifts this Diwali.

Amid this cheerful season, Dia Mirza shared a picture endorsing Diwali gift. However, that didn’t go down well with the netizens.
On Saturday, Dia Mirza posted a couple of snaps, endorsing the colourful big box. The Bheed actress had a wide smile on her face as she urged everyone to get their hands on the same. Her caption read, “Diwali, the festival of lights, is a time to express our gratitude and share love with those who mean the most. And what better way to do that than with a thoughtful gift for your favorite mom and dad, or those eagerly awaiting the arrival of their little one? ✨ Introducing the Allter’s Joyous Journey Gift Box – a bundle of love and care that’s designed to make the journey of parenthood even more beautiful ✨ (sic).”
She continued, “It’s not just a gift; it’s a symbol of the love, joy, and hope that Diwali brings into our lives. This Diwali, let your gift be a token of your affection, a wish for endless happiness, and a promise of support on their parenting adventure. Make this festive season truly joyous(sic).”
While some fans left positive comments, other netizens were miffed as they felt that the post contradicted her previous post. One of them wrote, “But in your latest reel you said don’t send any gifts? Package wastage? Always a gyani on Diwali. But rest of the year chalta hai. Right?” Another one commented, “Ye gift nai hai kya… ? hypocrites…. Paisa ke liye kuch bhi karenge ye log…”
Someone else said, “Soo much packaging. Wastage.”
For the unversed, the Instagram handle Daily Dump Compost along with Dia Mirza shared a video, advocating against the practice of giving and receiving gifts this Diwali. In the clip, Dia Mirza says, “This Diwali don’t give me anything. Please don’t give me, gifts. I feel like during Diwali, we tend to give each other so many things that we don’t need. There is so much excessive packaging and so much waste we create. So this Diwali, don’t give me anything. Give me your time. Give me your support by segregating waste at home. The best gift you could give me this Diwali is supporting organisation that work for the health of the environment.”
Dia Mirza was recently seen in the movie Dhak Dhak. The film which also stars Sanjana Sanghi, Fatima Sana Shaikh and Ratna Pathak Shah in key roles released in theatres on October 13. During a recent interview, Dia Mirza opened up on the ‘hardest time’ in her life and revealed she was not approached by even a single filmmaker for two long years. Talking about why she was never a part of the ‘rat race’, Dia mentioned that she started her production house in 2010 because she was ‘tired of waiting’ for the kind of roles she wanted to do.
