Sunny Deol has recently jetted off to the US along with his father Dharmendra for the latter’s health treatment. The father-son duo will be staying in the states for nearly 20 days for the treatment reportedly.
A source close to the family informed India Today that Dharmendra has been having health issues since a long time now due to his old age. “Dharam sir is currently 87 years old and been having health issues, hence for further treatment, Sunny decided to take his father to USA. They will be staying in US for 15-20 days or as long as the treatment goes. There is nothing to worry about,” the source shared.
Meanwhile on the work front, Sunny Deol is currently basking in the success of his recently released film Gadar 2. Released on August 11, the film has entered the Rs 500 crore club within a month,
Gadar 2 is an official remake of Gadar: Ek Prem Katha which was released in 2001. Gadar 2 is set against the backdrop of the 1971 Indo-Pak war. In the sequel, Tara Singh (Sunny Deol) and Sakeena (Ameesha Patel) are in a happy marriage, and their son Charan Jeet Singh (played by Utkarsh Sharma, who also essayed the child’s role in 2001’s Gadar) is all grown up now. Their lives are all hunky-dory but a turn of events lands Charan Jeet in Pakistan. Tara Singh then returns to Pakistan to save his son.
A massive celebration was recently held to honour the film’s success. The event was attended by industry heavyweights such as Shah Rukh Khan, Salman Khan, and Aamir Khan, among others.
Dharmendra on the other hand was last seen in Karan Johar’s Rocky Aur Rani Kii Prem Kahaani. He shared the screen space with Ranveer Singh, Alia Bhatt, Jaya Bachchan and Shabana Azmi. In the film, Dharmendra played Ranveer Singh’s grandfather. The film turned out to be massive hit at the box office.
