Cybersecurity firm Elementik Technologies eyes overseas expansion

Chennai: Pune-based cybersecurity firm Elementik Technologies is eyeing expansion in overseas markets, Nikhilesh Wani, founder-director of the company told ET.

The company has invented a device called Byteseal that it claims is capable of preventing cyber-attacks. The company has also launched a free of cost mobile application which also helps users to manage their passwords and credentials. The device has been funded by the Government of India, Science and Technology department.

“In the coming one or one-and-a-half years, we are planning to expand outside India. Till then we will be focusing on expanding our presence across India, and thereafter we will target markets like Europe and America,” he said.

Further, Wani said that as per a study, there was a steep rise in the data breaches that were witnessed in 2021. Phishing attacks increased to almost 11%, which he believed highlighted password security breaches, something that Elementik was looking to address.

The secure authentication device under the brand Byteseal has a secure capacitive fingerprint sensor, wireless connectivity to phone and PC via Bluetooth and has a rechargeable battery.

“We should avoid taking data safety and security lightly, and for which the world must understand that setting up a very strong password is the key. One should keep changing the passwords frequently. But managing multiple strong passwords becomes a tough job and this is where the Personal Authentication Device comes into picture,” Wani explained.

He went on to add that the device along with the accompanying software helps users to manage their passwords securely and access them with their fingerprint whenever necessary. Wani said that currently there are two major market segments – the consumer segment for the retail customers or individual users and the second one being the corporate segment or the b2b segment.

“Currently our product is present in both the B2B and B2C segments. The B2C one was started earlier and we recently launched into the corporate segment and going into the future, I would say we are planning to expand outside India.”

Elementik Technologies raised Rs 10 lakh in a seed funding round held in March 2021.
