CONFIRMED! Dhadkan 2 In the Making; Shilpa Shetty, Akshay Kumar, Suniel Shetty To Reunite? –

It seems like the seasons of sequels! After the blockbuster success of Gadar 2, it is reported that the sequel of Dhadkan could be in the making. The first film was released in 2000 and starred Shilpa Shetty, Suniel Shetty and Akshay Kumar. The news of Dhadkan 2 in the pipeline was confirmed Dhadkan director Dharmesh Darshan in a new interview. The filmmaker said that the producer of the 2000 release classic film, Ratan Jain, has offered Dhadkan 2. He also said he has two to three ideas in the bank that he wants to explore with the sequel.

Speaking with Bollywood Hungama, Dharmesh Darshan said, “At this moment, all I can say is that yes, I have been offered Dhadkan 2 by Mr Ratan Jain, who’s also the producer of Dhadkan. He has been offering me the film for a decade. I have been resisting as I was not sure since I have been told that Dhadkan is a classic. It’s like making the second part of Kabhi Kabhie (1976)! Dhadkan is not an action entertainer or comic caper. It is a film with a lot of soul. It has stood the test of time. I don’t believe in encashing on it. But now people have gone hammer and tongs I guess after the monstrous success of Gadar 2. Hence, the film was offered yet again to me in the last 10-15 days.”

“I made it clear (to the producer) that I’ll make the film only if we don’t compromise on any front. I don’t know how big a hit it will be. Even for the first part, I was not sure. It had an ‘off casting,’” he added, referring to Suniel Shetty and Akshay Kumar, who were action heroes when the film was in the making. When the filmmaker was asked if the iconic trio would return for the sequel, Dharmesh confessed, “I haven’t thought about the casting at all.”

Dhadkan was a massive hit in 2000. The film not only featured impressive performances but also had outstanding songs which continue to be popular today.
