Committed to provide all possible support to startups, says MeitY secretary


The Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MeitY) is committed to provide all possible support to startups, especially in their growth stages, the ministry’s secretary Alkesh Kumar Sharma said.


Addressing an interaction between the IT ministry and the representatives of some of the startups that have been mentored by the ministry’s MeitY startup hub (MSH), Sharma said that the innovation and energy of India startups was commendable.

The Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology’s startup hub has, till date, supported more than 3000 startups. Over the next five years, MSH plans to support up to 10,000 startups, Sharma said.

Created as a pan-India platform focused on promoting innovation, startups and intellectual property of these small firms, the agency partners from industry on various aspects. It also acts as a national coordination, facilitation and monitoring centre which integrates all incubation centres, startups, and innovation related activities of the IT ministry.

Apart from 476 incubators pan-India, the IT ministry’s startup hub also has 417 mentors and 22 centres of excellence.
