Citroen has taken the wraps off the all-new C3 Aircross SUV for Europe. The new C3 Aircross will be sold with petrol and EV powertrain in those markets. The C3 Aircross for Europe, similar to the new C3 hatchback, gets different styling cues than the one sold in India.
- New C3 Aircross is longer than India-spec model
- Sports aggressive look with boxier styling
- Likely to share powertrain options with the Euro-spec C3 hatchback
Citroen C3 Aircross for Europe: what’s new?
The new C3 Aircross is 4.39 metres long, and gets three-row seating as an option. It’s based on the same affordability-focused Stellantis Smart Car platform as the new Citroen C3 and the Vauxhall Frontera sold in Europe. The C3 Aircross has more ground clearance than the smaller C3 and a raised driving position for improved visibility. Citroen said it also majors on comfort and offers a high level of technology as standard.
The new C3 Aircross for Europe gets aggressive looks that give it a boxier shape. Along with receiving a wider stance, the C3 Aircross benefits from larger wheels than the C3 hatchback. It also gets LED headlights, a head-up display and rear parking sensors as standard, with a smartphone mount for the infotainment system. Higher variants gain a 10.25-inch touchscreen, wireless phone charging, automatic headlights and a rear camera.
Citroen C3 Aircross for Europe: powertrain highlights
Citroen hasn’t revealed which specific powertrains the C3 Aircross will be offered with in Europe, but its sister car, the C3, comes with a 1.2-litre turbocharged petrol engine with 91hp and a 5-speed manual, or a three-cylinder mild-hybrid engine with a 6-speed dual-clutch transmission. The electric eC3, meanwhile, is likely to come with a single-motor powertrain with around 136hp and almost 400km of range.
The C3 Aircross is on sale in India with a 1.2-litre turbo-petrol engine and different looks. The eC3 Aircross, which will be the EV version of this SUV, is slated to come by end of this year. Before that Citroen will introduce the Basalt SUV-coupe in India in the coming months.
