  1. Citroen Basalt gets 4 stars for both adult, child occupancy
  2. Scores applicable for all variants, including Turbo and NA models

Citroen Basalt BNCAP score explained

Out of a maximum of 32 points for adult occupant protection (AOP), the Citroen Basalt scored 26.19 points, earning a 4-star rating. The two tests conducted included a ‘Frontal Offset Deformable Barrier Test’, wherein the electric SUV scored 10.19 points out of 16, and a ‘Side Movable Deformable Barrier Test’, where it achieved an impressive 16 out of 16 points. The agency noted that in the ‘Frontal Offset Deformable Barrier Test’, the Basalt provided marginal protection to the driver’s chest, pelvis, and legs, which marked it down.

In terms of child occupant protection (COP), the Basalt managed a dynamic score of 19.90 out of 24, a perfect score of 12 out of 12 for child restraint system (CRS) installation, and 4 out of 13 for vehicle assessment.

These scores apply to all variants of the Basalt, which get safety features such as six airbags, ESC, Isofix anchors, and hill-start assist, along with three-point seat belts and seat belt reminders for all passengers. The coupe-SUV is currently priced between Rs 7.99 lakh and Rs 13.83 lakh and is available in You, Plus, Plus Turbo, Max Turbo, Plus Turbo AT, and Max Turbo AT variants, with dual-tone colour options available on the top-spec trim.
