It’s unlikely anyone opened Instagram in the last couple of months and didn’t come across the track Chaand Baaliyaan. The melodious song that went viral this year, thanks to reels, and skyrocketed its singer Aditya A’s popularity was actually released three years ago. However, it took the singer some time to get a grasp on the situation and understand that his song is actually breaking the internet.
Aditya tells us that he initially thought Instagram is showing him reels on Chaand Baaliyan because it is his song. “I thought I am the only one who is seeing those videos because it is my song and Instagram is not suggesting those to others. Then I started getting messages from people telling me that they are hearing my song everywhere and this was followed by calls from music labels. That’s when I realised that something has happened and it took me some time to believe it,” says the singer recalling the time when his song went viral.

He continues that a lot has happened since then, in a very short span of time. “I am doing live shows and spending more time making music. It has given me a lot of encouragement because I have been appreciated so much now.” He says he has also become more active on social media.
Aditya, who was also a medical student released a song earlier this month titled ‘Right Wali Payal.’ Like Chaand Baaliyan, this track, too, has been inspired by his wife. “We were on a vacation when she lost her right anklet and I got the idea for the track from that. I took some time off and made the song,” he shares, continuing, “It is a happy, fun song and has a positive vibe. It is a fan banter between a guy and a girl.”

So how does Aditya’s wife react when the songs that she unknowingly inspires go viral and receive love? “Well, she was very happy and ecstatic. Even before I did, my family had started celebrating the virality of the song (Chaand Baaliyan). I get a lot of support from them,” he answers. However, Aditya shares that his wife has a complaint and that is, “I don’t sing much at home and spend my time working in the studio. But I make her hear my recordings and I understand from her reaction whether she liked it. I sing for her but not much. Now I have to sing more.”
Aditya also explains what goes behind making these tracks. “I have done a variety of songs, not just romantic ones. I have done a few travel songs and some introspective songs also. But people like happy songs more so they are shared more, which is very natural. And what goes on behind is I compose songs depending on my mood at that point in time. However, when you are working on a project, then you have to cater to the needs of the project so I am quite flexible on that.”
Talking about extending his talents to Bollywood or any other film industry, he says, “I would love to sing songs for films if I get a project.” So are there any Bollywood actors he would love to sing for? “I like a lot of them. Varun Dhawan, Vicky Kaushal- I like their acting so I would love to sing for them. There is Ayushmann Khurrana as well.”
