Central government employees may get big post-Budget surprise, details inside: 7th Pay Commission

After the Budget 2023 is presented on February 1, 2023, the government may approve a significant expectation for central employees.

7th Pay Commission latest news: Many central government workers are eagerly awaiting confirmation of the next Dearness Allowance (DA) increase. In the meantime, following Budget 2023, the government may also approve a continuing demand for central employees.

According to a report published by Zee News, the Union Budget 2023 that will be presented on February 1 by Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman may result in an increase in the minimum salary of central government employees. The employees’ side argues that DA hikes should be supported in light of rising inflation, and there has been a request to increase the basic salary.

According to the most recent reports, the government might also think about changing the 7th Pay Commission rules that govern the fitment factor for salaries for central government employees. At the moment, government employees’ common fitment factor is 2.57 times. The demand is to increase this number by 3.68 times, which would result in an increase of Rs 8,000 over the current rate of Rs 18,000.

In the meantime, the DA for central government employees is likely to be raised in March 2023 by the central government. The first DA increase of 2023 will take effect in January. Employees who had hoped for a raise of more than 4% were slightly disappointed by the most recent AICPI numbers.

The All-India Consumer Price Index (AICPI) number remained unchanged in November after rising between April and October. The AICPI plays a crucial role in determining the DA increase for government employees. Expectations of a larger DA hike would have been fueled by an increase. After a 3% increase in January 2022, central government employees received a 4% DA increase in celebration of Diwali.
