7th Pay Commission latest news: An important development that will delight tens of thousands of central government employees is the prospect of a decision on the 18-month long-standing issue.
Employees have high hopes that their request for DA hike arrears from the time DA hikes were frozen will be granted this time around. Zee News, citing sources, reported the most recent development in the matter: the time for talks between the cabinet secretary and the staff.
Although the government has not provided any information regarding the 18-month DA arrears to date, the employees’ side is hopeful of receiving a substantial payment this time around. In light of rising inflation, central government employees have been insistently demanding the arrear.
How much are central government employees expected to receive in DA arrears?
According to the report, which cited Shiv Gopal Mishra of the National Council of JCM (Staff Side), various employees have distinct arrears.For Level-1 employees, the DA arrears range from Rs 11,880 to Rs 37,554.However, according to the 7th Pay Commission, the maximum basic salary for Level-13 and Level-14 employees will be between Rs 1,23,100 and 2,15,900, respectively.
During the Covid-19 pandemic, the DA hike for central government employees was frozen for a time. The DA hike was initiated once more with an 11 percent increase in total.
Throughout the time, employees have repeatedly demanded arrears, but the government has no plans to address the issue. Last year, the Finance Ministry made it clear that the debts would not be paid. However, the employees’ side has continued to demand an answer to the problem.
According to recent reports, a solution may now be possible. After the most recent increase of 4%, central government employees’ DA currently stands at 38%.
