BYD e6 facelift, eMax7, India launch details, specs, features -DellyRanks

BYD India has announced that the facelifted e6 MPV will be renamed BYD eMax7 upon launch. Price announcement for the BYD eMax7 is slated to take place in early October, according to sources.

  1. BYD eMax to get altered looks, more features and tech
  2. Could get multiple seating options

The facelifted BYD e6 MPV has already gone on sale in markets like Indonesia where it is now called BYD M6. For India, however, BYD has opted to call it the eMax7, likely due to the name M6 being copyrighted by another entity.

The BYD e6 facelift with the M6 branding made its debut in July this year in Indonesia. The updated e6 got more features and tech along with visual updates on the outside. For the India-bound BYD eMAX7, we expect these updates to be carried over with minimal tweaks.

BYD eMax7: extertior and interior updates

Official teasers have confirmed that just like the BYD M6, the India-bound eMax7 will get mildly altered headlamp and taillamp design with more chrome elements at the front and at the back. The front and rear bumper design has been altered too in order to keep things new.

Inside, the biggest update will be a larger 12.8-inch floating touchscreen, up from 10.1-inch in the existing car. Otherwise, the dashboard remains mostly unchanged. The centre console has been slightly revised with two wireless charging pads, some new switchgear and a new drive selector lever. It also gets a new steering wheel but retains analogue dials for the instrument cluster.

BYD eMax7: powertrain, specs

In Indonesia, the e6 has two battery pack options: a 55.4kWh unit with a claimed range of 420km and a 71.8kWh unit with 530km range. It produces 163hp with the smaller battery and 204hp with the larger battery; torque is rated at 310Nm for both variants. That’s quite a significant step up from the 95hp and 180Nm outputs of the existing car.

BYD already offers the 71.8kWh battery on the e6 in India, so that’ll likely remain unchanged. Do note that the claimed range with this larger battery is up by 8km. Whether the smaller battery pack will be offered in India is not yet known.

The BYD e6 is currently priced at Rs 29.15 lakh (ex-showroom), and the updated model is expected to come at a reasonable premium. Being an electric MPV, it has no direct rival in the market.
