Boney Kapoor Says Mona Walked to Temple Barefoot After THIS Sridevi Film Flopped: ‘My Wife Was…’ –

Boney Kapoor made a rare statement about his first wife, Mona Shourie Kapoor in a recent interview. The producer, looking back his work and family, recalled the failure of Roop Ki Rani Choron Ka Raja when he mentioned Mona. The film starred Sridevi and Anil Kapoor in the lead. The film, released in 1993, was expected to do well but bombed at the box office. In a new interview, Boney revealed that after the film failed, Mona supported him and even walked to Siddhivinayak Temple to pray for him.

Speaking with The New Indian Express, Boney recalled that Mona and his brothers, Anil Kapoor and Sanjay Kapoor were by his side during these tough times. “Besides losing your own money, you have lost money which you have borrowed. My wife was there. She walked to Siddhivinayak temple barefoot. My brothers stood with me,” he said.

Over the years, Boney has spoken about how the film’s failured affected him badly. Boney had taken a massive loan for the film. In the asme interview, Boney revealed that although he was under massive debt, he never changed his number to evade debt collectors. “I always respond to people whether I owe them money, or people I don’t know. This has been my hallmark,” he added. Boney also revealed he has faced three cycles of losses in the industry and had to sell a few possessions to pay back the debt.

Roop Ki Rani Choron Ka Raja was released in 1993 and three years later, Boney married Sridevi. They welcomed their daughter Janhvi Kapoor soon after. In the interview, the producer clarified that she was not conceived before marriage and that he secretly married Sridevi in Tirupati months before his public wedding with her.

On the work front, Boney was seen making his acting debut this year with Tu Jhoothi Main Makkaar. He will be seen as a producer of Ajay Devgn’s Maidaan.
