Boney Kapoor recalls spending time with Sridevi.
Boney Kapoor recently got emotional when he remembered his late wife, actress Sridevi. The filmmaker was speaking to Showsha exclusively during the Eugenix Hair Sciences event in Mumbai when he talked about his weight loss and hair transplant journey and recalled how Sridevi always wanted him to lose some weight.
Boney Kapoor mentioned that he has lost approximately 13 kg in the last few months and shared, “It all started when I started losing weight. I decided to lose weight and when I lost about 13-14 kg, I thought, ‘abhi shape pehle se better ho gaye hai’. I have come down to 94-95 Kg. Considering my height, I should be just around 87-88. I still have about 8-9 Kgs to lose.”
Kapoor revealed that even though he decided to lose weight after watching himself in Tu Jhoothi Main Makkaar, it was actually his wife who always pushed him towards a healthy lifestyle.
“When I shot for Tu Jhoothi Main Makkaar, at that time, I didn’t even lose weight. I was my original self. It was after the shooting that I decided (to lose weight) because whenever I washed myself on screen, I didn’t like the way I was looking. Maybe I was playing the part which was asked for me to do. But I still felt that I was not looking the way I would want myself to come across on the screen. That’s where the initial thought started. But the seeds were sown by my wife. She was always after me to lose weight. She was a health-conscious person herself. I used to go for a walk with her. I used to go to the gym with her,” he said.
“She (Sridevi) was very clear on when she wants to eat, what she wants to eat. I tried my best to do that but I couldn’t. For the past two years, post TJMM, when I saw myself, I felt I should…and my kids also wanted me to look sharper, leaner, and better. Of course, health-wise also I needed to. I’m 69 today so I’m not getting any younger.,” he added.
Boney Kapoor concluded by saying that if Sridevi had been alive today, she would have been very happy seeing his physical transformation. “I feel Sri is still around me, my wife is still around me and motivating me to lose weight. ‘Lose weight’, she said. Doctor also said the same thing – You should lose weight before you think of doing a transplant. Here I am, I’ve lost some weight and I’ve got some hair back for some.”
Meanwhile, during the interaction, Boney Kapoor was also joined by his hair transplant doctor – Pradeep Sethi. Mr Sethi also talked about working with the filmmaker and revealed that it was fun because the latter was very comfortable with the process. “When he got involved in the process, I felt very good. They add nuances to our work. I was very clear about what needs to be done with Boney sir. He was also very particular. He also was very confident on us. It was fun working with him, ” Dr Sethi said.
