The project, co-founded by producer and Salman Khan’s brother-in-law Atul Agnihotri, will launch the collection in weekly phases, starting with villains of the Dabangg franchise. The NFT drop will conclude on February 11, 2022 with NFTs of Salman Khan‘s character Chulbul Pandey.
The marketplace has partnered with Arbaaz Khan Production, Sohail Khan Productionz and Salman Khan Films.
The platform also said that BollyCoin NFT holders will get access to an exclusive club called The Green Room, which will give them benefits such as VIP access to physical and metaverse events, celebrity interactions, sneak peeks of unreleased NFTs, giveaways and an exclusive selection of NFTs. In fact, They will also have access to 25% more Chulbul Pandey NFTs when the collection drops in February 2022, it said.
The market for NFTs, a type of crypto asset in which each token is entirely unique – is picking up in India with several celebrities such as Amitabh Bachchan, Kamal Haasan and Salman Khan jumping on to the bandwagon this year.
While their entry has generated a lot of buzz, leading to growing awareness and “mainstreamisation” of this emerging industry, several founders of Indian NFT projects and sector experts that ET spoke with said some of these NFT assets are opportunistic and lack key features such as uniqueness, rarity, and long-term credibility.
