With the 5 Series LWB coming soon, there will be great offers and discounts on the soon-to-be-discontinued 6 Series GT.
I have shortlisted the BMW 6 Series GT and the Jaguar F-Pace, but I’m not sure which one to buy. I have always loved the 6 GT for its features, but is it the right choice now that it’s being discontinued? Should I wait for the new 5 Series, and would a 6 GT hold its value after 5-6 years? My brother uses the F-Pace in Dubai, but is it a good buy for our roads? Please do suggest any other car I should consider.

Autocar India says: If you love the BMW 6 Series GT, we suggest you go in for it, even though it will be phased out this year with the launch of the LWB 5 Series. We assume the appeal of the 6 GT is mainly its styling, which is sportier than a conventional sedan. The wheelbase is also not that much shorter than the new 5 Series LWB (only by 35mm), which means interior space will still be plenty. Plus, the 6 Series GT gets air suspension and rear seat recline as standard which the new 5 Series LWB misses out on.
And though the resale value will drop once the new 5 is launched, you can offset it with deals on the 6 GT, thereby lowering its purchase price significantly. With the new 5 LWB now having to cater to both 5 Series and 6 Series GT customers, there will no doubt be a price climb with the repositioning, and we expect this new-gen model to be more expensive than even the current 6 Series GT. As for the F-Pace, it is a good driver’s car and handles and rides brilliantly, but it doesn’t have the same performance or roominess as the 6 Series.
