Apart from resale value, the choice really depends on whether you’re chauffeur driven or enjoy driving yourself.
I was confused between the Mercedes-Benz E-Class E200 and the BMW 5 Series. While the 5 Series is better from a self-drive perspective, it is only available in 520d guise, which would affect its resale value in NCR.

Autocar India says: You are right, the 520d with its punchy diesel and sharp handling is a better driver’s car than the E200, and we also understand your concern about the 10-year limit on diesel cars in the NCR. However, if you enjoy driving, we feel it is worth going in for the 520d even at the risk of a lower resale value after five years. With the latest RDE emissions regulations implemented, diesel cars have never been cleaner, and hence, if you buy after April 1, 2023, it will have a positive impact on the resale value. The Mercedes E200 is a good car too and is the one to pick if you are chauffeur driven.
