SUVs contributed 54 percent of total sales; X1 was the best-selling SUV.
BMW Group India recorded a growth of over 21 percent in the first half of 2024 on the back of high demand for its SUVs, the ‘Luxury Class’ models and its EVs. The Group delivered a total of 7,098 cars (6,734 BMWs and 364 MINIs), while BMW Motarrad delivered 3,614 motorcycles.

BMW half-yearly sales split
Unsurprisingly, SUVs made up the majority, accounting for 54 percent of total sales. BMW’s SUV sales also witnessed 24 percent growth compared to H1 2023; the X1 was the highest selling SUV with around 19 percent share in sales. Meanwhile, in the sedan segment, the 3 Series continued to be the highest selling model with a 17 percent share.
As for EVs, BMW and MINI sold 397 units combined in the first six months of the year, with the flagship i7 sedan emerging as the best-seller. The BMW Group currently has six EVs in India – i7, iX, i5, i4, iX1 and the Cooper SE – of which the iX has been the most popular EV, selling over 1000 units till date. BMW also claims it’s the first luxury carmaker to cross the 2,000-unit milestone for EVs in the country.
Lastly, the top-rung luxury class, comprising vehicles such as the 7 Series, i7, X7 and the XM, witnessed a growth of 17 percent compared to last year, and made up 18 percent of total sales; the X7 was the best-selling model in this class.
