Blake Lively has filed a lawsuit against Justin Baldoni, the director and co-star of It Ends With Us, accusing him of sexual harassment. She also claims Baldoni tried to orchestrate a smear campaign against her, causing significant emotional distress to her family. In response, Baldoni’s team has denied the allegations, calling them “categorically false.” The lawsuit, accessed by TMZ, revealed that a meeting was held during the film’s production to address Lively’s concerns, which reportedly included her husband, actor Ryan Reynolds.
According to reports, excerpts from the demands included “no more showing nude videos or images of women to Blake, no more mention of Baldoni’s alleged previous pornography addiction, and no more discussions about sexual conquests in front of Blake and others, no further mentions of cast and crew’s genitalia, no more inquiries about Blake’s weight, and no further mention of Blake’s dead father.”
Blake Lively’s lawsuit against Justin Baldoni includes demands that no last-minute changes be made to intimate or sexual scenes unless previously approved by her. These conditions were reportedly approved by the film’s distributor, Sony Pictures. Lively has also accuses Baldoni of “social manipulation” and claimed he attempted to damage her reputation through a smear campaign.
Meanwhile, in a statement to Variety, Baldoni’s team has said, “It is shameful that Ms Lively and her representatives would make such serious and categorically false accusations against Mr. Baldoni, Wayfarer Studios and its representatives, as yet another desperate attempt to ‘fix’ her negative reputation which was garnered from her own remarks and actions during the campaign for the film; interviews and press activities that were observed publicly, in real time and unedited, which allowed for the internet to generate their own views and opinions.”
Blake Lively’s film It Ends With Us, adapted from Colleen Hoover’s novel, delves into sensitive themes of domestic violence. During its promotional tour, Lively faced criticism for her light-hearted approach, which some fans felt was insensitive to the film’s serious subject matter. That apart, her promotion of personal business ventures during the press tour drew further scrutiny.
