Buckingham Palace hosted a state banquet for South Korean President Yoon Suk-yeol and First Lady Kim Keon-hee’s diplomatic visit to the United Kingdom.
In recent years, K-pop royalty like BLACKPINK and BTS have become the global brand ambassadors of South Korea’s soft power. These groups often represent South Korea in global diplomatic events. Most recently, all four members of the girl group BLACKPINK attended the Korean State Banquet at Buckingham Palace in the United Kingdom. Jennie, Jisoo, Lisa, and Rosé attended the banquet as COP26 ambassadors and supporters of the UN’s sustainable development goals (SDGs).
The event took place on November 21 at Buckingham Palace, to honour the President of South Korea Yoon Suk-yeol and First Lady Kim Keon-hee’s state visit to the United Kingdom.
Before the dinner, King Charles spoke about the global impact of the South Korean music, food, and entertainment industry. He also praised BLACKPINK for being positive role models for fans and said, “It is especially inspiring to see Korea’s younger generation embrace the cause. i applaud Jennie, Jisoo, Lisa and Rosé, better known collectively as Blackpink, for their role in bringing the message of environmental sustainability to a global audience.”

The ceremony saw a number of celebrities and high-ranking government officials in attendance including UK’s Prime Minister Rishi Sunak.
Now as the clips from the banquet are emerging on social media, BLACKPINK fans, known as Blinks, are getting endeared by Jisoo’s unintentionally funny and meme-worthy behavior. Jisoo is the oldest member of the group. Her very expressive face and fun one-liners often become the subject of memes within the fandom.
Fans were particularly amused by a clip from the banquet that showed Jisso discreetly signing an autograph as other guests waited for Kind Charles’s arrival. While resharing a video of Jisoo’s quick autograph signing moment, a person wrote, “Am I crazy or is Jisoo signing an autograph at Buckingham Palace surrounded by the richest people from both countries?”
Another moment that amused Blinks was when King Charles mentions Jisoo’s name in his speech and the 28-year-old singer and dancer is seen jolting unexpectedly as she is seated at the long table.

At one point Jisoo is seen trying to find her seat with animated expressions as Lisa stands next to her.
BLACKPINK was formed in 2016 by YG Entertainment. In 2019, they became the first K-pop group to perform at the Coachella music festival in the USA. This year, they became the first Asian act to headline Coachella. The group’s latest Born Pink World Tour (2022–23) is believed to be the highest-grossing concert tour by a female group.
