Black Panther actor Winston Duke expressed his interest in playing Batman in the DC Universe during the promotion of The Fall Guy.
Winston Duke has expressed his desire to slip into the shoes of Batman in a James Gunn directorial. The Black Panther alum has already voiced the DC superhero character of Bruce Wayne in Spotify’s 2022 audio drama podcast Batman Unburied. Now, in a recent media interaction, the actor revealed that he is all in to play the role of The Dark Knight in any forthcoming Batman film. Winston Duke’s confession comes at the heels of an upcoming superhero film — The Brave And The Bold, created by James Gunn and directed by Andres Muschietti. DC fans are already speculating about the possible cast of the yet-to-be-released live-action.
In an interview with Slash Film, for the promotions of his recently-released action comedy The Fall Guy, Winston Duke shared that he would like to campaign for the role of Batman, reports Comic Book. “Listen, man, can you start that campaign? I would say I challenge you to get on all these socials and push for me. Get your community. I would love to. I would love to do that as Batman. I’d love any opportunity to explore new characters and to change narratives around some of these entrenched ideas of how these characters are supposed to look, sound, and perform. I’m all for it,” he said.
Having worked in Batman Unburied, Winston Duke is not new to the concept and mannerisms of Batman. The podcast, penned by David S Goyer has been a success among listeners, paving the way for Season 2. Batman Unburied revolves around a forensic pathologist aka Bruce Wayne who is assigned with the responsibility of examining the dead bodies of victims, murdered by The Harvester — Gotham City’s dreaded serial killer. But in the process of saving the life of the innocent, Bruce has to fight with his inner demons too.
While Winston Duke’s stance at bagging a Batman role is yet to be confirmed, his latest film The Fall Guy has whipped up a positive response in the theatres. Released today, May 3, the film features Ryan Gosling, Emily Blunt, Hannah Waddingham, Aaron Taylor-Johnson, Teresa Palmer, Ben Knight and Stephanie Hsu in important roles.
