The gross collection of Kannur Squad in India is currently standing at Rs 28.27 crore. Overseas, the film earned around Rs 23.50 crore, taking to total worldwide collection to Rs 51.77 crore.
The latest Malayalam police drama starring Mammootty, Kannur Squad has entered the Rs 50 crore club worldwide on its ninth day of release. The film has captivated the audience with its gripping storyline and impressive performances by the actors. Mammootty’s son and actor Dulquer Salmaan, on achieving the milestone, extended his congratulatory wish to the team and also expressed his gratitude towards the audience for showing love.
The actor shared a poster featuring Mammootty and the text in the poster reads, “Worldwide Box Office Collection crossed 50 crores.” On Facebook, Dulquer wrote, “A big congrats to the entire team of Kannur Squad. And a big thank you to the audience for all the unending love you are giving the film.”
According to the entertainment industry tracker Sacnilk, Kannur Squad opened by earning Rs 2.2 crore and closed its first-week collection with Rs 22.45 crore at the domestic box office. On day 9, the film earned Rs 1.55 crore taking the tally to Rs 24 crore. The gross collection in India is currently standing at Rs 28.27 crore. Overseas, the film earned around Rs 23.50 crore, taking to total worldwide collection to Rs 51.77 crore.
The theatre witnessed occupancy of 11.08 per cent in the morning show and 14.57 per cent in the afternoon on the ninth day. In the evening and night shows, there was 33.12 and 53.99 per cent occupancy respectively. The film saw an overall occupancy of 28.19 per cent in Malayalam-speaking states on Friday.
Kannur Squad, directed by Roby Varghese Raj, was released on September 28. It is inspired by a team of police officers who are part of the Kannur Squad, which was formed by the former Kannur SP S Sreejith. While the original team is still operational and has a total of nine members, the film focuses on four police officers essayed by Mammootty, Shabaressh Varma, Rony David Raj and Azeez Nedumangad.
Mammooty’s character George Martin is an assistant sub-inspector, the other three play a driver and two police constables. The film is based on Kannur Squad but also has a fictional take on two of the cases handled by the team.
