Krafton Inc announced the comeback of its Battlegrounds Mobile India (BGMI) in India last week. The game returned back to the country almost after a year-long ban by the Indian government in July 2022. While the news is surely an exciting one for the game lovers, sadly their wait to finally play the multiplayer game is not over yet.
The game’s official India website is live with download buttons from Google Play Store and Apple App Store. However, clicking on the download button takes you to a webpage that says “We’re sorry, the requested URL was not found on this server.”
While some reports suggest that the game is finally available for download, Krafton Inc has issued an official statement clearing the air. The company said that the “game cannot be downloaded as the servers have been shut.”
“Currently, the closed test track for BGMI is updated. Those who opted for a public test for the game before its launch are expected to get a message which takes them to the play store for downloading the game. However, the link won’t work and the game cannot be downloaded as the servers have been shut,” the company said in the official statement.
“We also understand that some other users who had not opted for the closed test are also getting this message. This is a technical error and we are working on resolving it,” the official statement further stated.
As mentioned above, BGMI got second life in the country after the Indian government gave a temporary approval to the game. In a post on Twitter, Rajeev Chandrasekhar, Union Minister of State for Electronics and IT said that “this is a 3 month trial approval of #BGMI after it has complied with issues of server locations and data security etc.”
Krafton Inc has not revealed any date as to when the game’s server will go online in India.
