Badshah also shed light on his understanding of marriages and explained that it isn’t meant for immatures.
Badshah has finally revealed why he and his former wife, Jasmine Masih, parted ways. In a recent interview, the globally popular singer-rapper stated that their marriage fell apart because Jasmine could not adapt it culturally. He also mentioned that it became very ‘messy’ and that is why they decided to part ways.
Badshah began by explaining that they met on Facebook and when he told his parents about their marriage plans, they agreed because they wants to be ‘woke’. “We met online, on Facebook, and then connected via a common friend. We dated for over a year, and then got married,” he told The Lallantop and then added, “It’s important to do your due diligence. It’s important to examine how people can co-exist. Parents are usually right. They asked me if I was sure.”
The The ‘DJ Wale Babu’ further mentioned that marriage did not work because of cultural differences. “She was born in London, she grew up there. My parents predicted that there would be problems. And that’s what happened. She could not adapt to the culture, and it got really messy. But both of us tried very hard to make it work,” he said.
Badshah further shed light on his understanding of marriages and explained that it isn’t meant for immatures. “It’s a flawed concept in today’s day and age. Some modifications need to be made. There is a lot of pressure. One should get married only after attaining a certain level of maturity, and after thinking long and hard about it. We get married too early, but of course, there are biological reasons. But you should get married if you’re extremely sure, otherwise you’re disrespecting the institution… To co-exist with someone with an opinion is a full-time job,” he opined.
Badshah and Jasmine parted ways in 2020. They continue to co-parent their daughter Jessemy Grace Masih Singh.
Meanwhile, Badshah is currently rumoured to be dating actress Isha Rikhi. In 2023, reports claimed that the two were also planning to tie the knot soon. However, back then, the singer dismissed all such claims and called it ‘bullshit’. “Dear media, I respect you but this is super lame. I’m not getting married. Whoever’s feeding you this bullshit needs to find better masala,” he had written.
Reportedly, Badshah and Isha have been dating for years now. They met at a party via one of their mutual friends and fell in love with each other. Isha Rikhi is a Punjabi actress who made her debut in 2013 with the film Jatt Boys Putt Jattan De. The film also starred Sippy Gill and Om Puri among others in the lead. The actress made her Bollywood debut with Nawabzaade in 2018 which also starred Varun Dhawan, Raghav Juyal and Punit Pathak.
