Ather ties up with Magenta ChargeGrid, gets access to charging locations

The partnership gives Ather access to Magenta ChargeGrid’s EV charging stations, which are slated to be in 35 to 40 cities by the end of FY2023.

As it continues to expand its Ather Grid fast-charging network, Bengaluru-based start-up Ather Energy has tied up with Magenta ChargeGrid to set up more charging stations across the country. The partnership gives Ather access to Magenta ChargeGrid’s EV charging stations across the nation, and the two companies have signed an MoU to set up Ather Grid outlets at these locations.

Magenta ChargeGrid is in the process of expanding its network and aims to have a presence in 35 to 40 cities by the end of FY2023, with 11,000 chargers in place. This will be a significant boost to the Ather Grid, which currently measures a little over 330 charging points across 35 cities. In the next three years, Ather hopes to add 5,000 more fast chargers across the country, and a large part of that will be made possible by collaborations like these.

Also part of the company’s three-year plans are an increase in annual production capacity, from the current 4,00,000 units to a target of 10,00,000 units, as well as the introduction of new products and an expansion of its dealer network. To help it along its way, the company recently secured nearly Rs 1,000 crore of additional funding, and is slated to roll out a sub-Rs 1 lakh e-scooter in the coming months.
