Professionally, Arjun Kapoor has been receiving applause for his role as the antagonist Danger Lanka, aka Zubair Hafeez, in Singham Again.
Arjun Kapoor’s bond with his half-sisters Janhvi Kapoor and Khushi Kapoor has evolved dramatically over the years. They are children of film producer Boney Kapoor. While Arjun and his sister Anshula are Boney’s children from his first marriage to late Mona Shourie, Janhvi and her sister Khushi Kapoor are Boney’s kids from second marriage to late actor Sridevi. The siblings have become close, especially after Sridevi’s passing in 2018. “I love both of them — Khushi and Janhvi,” Arjun tells us in an exclusive interview.
Arjun further reflects on his relationship with Janhvi, addressing whether she’s his biggest critic or cheerleader. “You’ve got to be honest with each other,” he says. “You can’t build relationships on just praise. You have to be able to call each other out when needed. But honestly, she’s a pretty hardworking and sorted girl. She’s taking chances, putting herself out there, and experimenting. I don’t really need to criticise her, whenever she needs me, I’m there and we chat.”
Arjun shared how his conversations with Janhvi often revolve around life beyond work. “It’s more conversation so, you need to be there for each other. I can talk to her about a million other things. For example, we can discuss food, but you are still allowing yourself to engage and create a fostering experience for each other. You also have to realise that we are brother and sister but we have a long way to go to really find that deep-rooted connection on a daily basis. We are still chipping our way and finding pure essence, which is there, but you still want it to get stronger… Obviously, I spend more time with Janhvi because she’s a bit older, and we’ve spoken a lot about work. But I am always there to engage with her.”
Professionally, Arjun Kapoor has been receiving applause for his role as the antagonist Danger Lanka, aka Zubair Hafeez, in Singham Again. He’s thrilled by the positive response, saying, “I’m very happy and grateful to reconnect with an audience that once allowed me to become Chokra Jawaan in Ishaqzaade. Today, to be seen as a menacing villain they enjoyed watching is incredible.”
Despite a career filled with highs and lows, Arjun feels he’s finally found solid footing with Singham Again, which has crossed the Rs 200 crore mark at the box office. When asked if he sees this as his comeback, he responds, “Whether I see it or not, I think people see it. In this profession, you need to believe what people say. This tag of the comeback or 2.0, I am happy to take it and grow with it. Mein toh yahin tha, but sometimes it so happens that you’re not visible in the crowd and you need to do something to get noticed. Danger Lanka perhaps might be that fuel that ignites the excitement in more people wanting to see my work and more people wanting to work with me.”
Next, Arjun is excited about potentially collaborating with his father, Boney Kapoor, on Anees Bazmee’s No Entry 2. While an official announcement is yet to come, he shares his enthusiasm with us. “It’s homecoming. It’s time for entertaining, ensemble films and theatrical experiences. I’m very happy with the material, and Anees bhai is fully gung-ho.”
