Aprilia Storm, SR and SXR scooters receive price hike

Aprilia has hiked prices for its Storm and SR sporty scooters, and SXR maxi-style scooters, for June 2022. The models from the Italian brand’s line-up that received the largest hike are the Storm 125 and SR 125. 

• Aprilia SR 125 prices up by Rs 5,000

• Prices for SXR range have gone up by around Rs 4,000

The revised prices for the entry-level Storm 125 scooter is Rs 1.11 lakh – up by around Rs 5,000. What is surprising is that Aprilia chose to hike prices of the Storm 125 Disc variant, seeing as it is set to be discontinued next month.

In terms of competition, the Aprilia Storm 125 goes up against the TVS Ntorq 125 (Rs 90,503), Suzuki Avenis 125 (Rs 86,500) and Yamaha Ray ZR 125 (Rs 96,073).

As for the SR range, the 125cc model gets a Rs 5,000 price bump and the more powerful 160cc models get a hike of Rs 4,000. The Aprilia SR 125 is now priced at Rs 1.21 lakh, while the SR 160 range now starts at Rs 1.30 lakh for the base variant and goes up to Rs 1.39 lakh for the SR 160 Race variant.  

Meanwhile, prices for Aprilia’s SXR range have gone up by around Rs 4,000. The Suzuki Burgman Street-rivalling SXR 125 is now priced at Rs 1.31 lakh, while the larger-engined SXR 160 now costs Rs 1.42 lakh. This now makes the SXR 160 Rs 5,000 more expensive than its chief rival, the Aerox 155, despite the Yamaha being quicker and more feature-rich than the Aprilia. 

It’s worth noting that these price increases come only a month after the company had announced substantial hikes for both these model ranges.
