Samsung, Vivo, OnePlus, you name it, almost all major smartphone brands have a foldable offering in the market. Well all with the exception of Apple. A new report has suggested that this might be about to change with the launch of two new foldable devices by the Cuperinto based tech giant in 2026.
Apple foldable:
According to a new report by 9to5Mac citing analyst Jeff Pu, Apple could release a foldable iPad/MacBook to debut in the second quarter of 2026. The tech giant is said to release a foldable iPhone later in the year, perhaps with the iPhone 18 series launch in September that year.
Earlier reports had indicated that a foldable iPad/MacBook hybrid has been in the works for a while. The device is likely to be in the form of an all-screen MacBook or a foldable iPad and feature an 18.8 inch display when unfolded.
Meanwhile, a report last month had stated that Apple had signed a supply contract deal with Samsung for its foldable iPhone which could feature a top down fold design akin to the Samsung Galaxy Flip series. Notably, Samsung released its 6th generation of Flip phone this year and by the time Apple releases its own offering in the segment, Samsung would have a lead of 8 generations.
An earlier report by The Information stated that Apple’s foldable iPhone has moved beyond the ideation phase and the company has reached out to Asian suppliers to manufacture components for the device, which is internally referred to by the code name V68.
However, as usual we don not have any official word by Apple on the matter with the company having a history of keeping its upcoming launches under wraps until the last moment. For instance, Apple hasn’t even officially confirmed the official presence of iPhone 16, which could launch next month.
