Apple iPhone 15 may come with improved performance: Report

Apple will launch the iPhone 15 series in September later this year. According to reliable Apple analyst – Ming-Chi Kuo, the Cupertino-based company will aggressively upgrade its hardware specifications to develop an ecosystem of Vision Pro. Kuo says that Apple is planning to introduce an improved Ultra Wideband chip (UWB) with the iPhone 15. The upgraded chipset will deliver improved performance and reduced power consumption for nearby interactions. He says that it may require the production process moving from 16nm to more advanced 7nm.

Apple has used the same U1 UWB chip since the iPhone 11. The chipset is also used in Apple Watch Series 6 and above generations along with Apple HomePod mini, the second-gen HomePod, the new AirPods Pro’s case, and AirTags. The U1 offers features like Find My features, Handoff, Precision Finding, and AirDrop.

In addition, Apple may bring Wi-Fi 7 with iPhone 16 which, Kuo says will be more conducive to Apple’s integration of hardware products running on the same local network and provide a better ecosystem experience.

Meanwhile, iPhone 15 and its Plus variant are expected to receive three significant upgrades compared to their predecessors. There are rumors that the iPhone 15 series standard models will incorporate Apple’s new Dynamic Island feature, potentially featuring a punch-hole display design. However, there has not been any official confirmation on this matter.

Currently, the punch-hole design is exclusive to Apple iPhone 14 Pro models, but it is speculated that this might change with the release of the iPhone 15 series, as this rumor has been circulating for some time.

Another upgrade reportedly coming to iPhone 15 and 15 Plus is a 48MP camera. This would be a significant improvement compared to the 12MP sensors found on current iPhone models. Another notable change expected in the 2023 iPhones is the replacement of Apple’s Lightning port, seen on previous models, with a USB Type-C port.
