Apple iPhone 15 and iPhone 15 Plus may feature a 48MP camera: Report

Apple iPhone 15 series launch is months away, yet the rumour mill keeps churning rumours about the same. According to a report by Macrumours, the low-end iPhone 15 and iPhone 15 Plus models may come with an updated 48MP camera lens on the rear. The current iPhone 14 and iPhone 14 Plus phones have a 12MP sensor on the back, while the iPhone 14 Pro and 14 Pro models come with a 48MP rear camera.

The report quotes Jeff Pu, an analyst at Hong Kong-based investment firm Haitong International Securities who says that the 48MP sensor on iPhone 15 and iPhone 15 Plus phones will use a new three-stacked sensor that can capture more light for improved image quality.

However, the stacked sensor, Pu says is facing yield issues due to supply chain checks. This could result in the production delay for iPhone 15 and iPhone 15 Plus.

The analyst was the first to report that the Pro models of 2023 series – iPhone 15 Pro and iPhone 15 Pro will no longer feature solid-state buttons due to “design issues.” Although, he still expects iPhone 15 Pro models to feature a titanium frame. Other expected features on the handset include an upgraded A17 Bionic chip, an increased 8GB of RAM, and a USB-C charging port instead of the lightning port.

In a related news, two of the 2023 iPhone series phones will be Made in India. According to TrendForce, the Cupertino-based company may manufacture iPhone 15 and iPhone 15 Plus models in India. The report further states that the handsets will be assembled by Tata Group.

Tata will be the fourth company to undertake iPhone assembly business in India which started in 2020 for iPhone 12 Pro Max assembly. At present, Foxconn, Luxshare and Pegatron have iPhone assembly plants in India.
