Apple has announced new Magic accessories for standalone purchase in India. The new list of accessories by Apple includes Magic Keyboard, Magic Keyboard with Touch ID, Magic Keyboard with Touch ID and Numeric Keypad, Magic Trackpad as well as Magic Mouse.
In addition to the accessories, Apple has also launched three new graphics card modules for its Mac Pro. Named Radeon Pro W6800X MPX, Radeon Pro W6800X Duo MPX and the Radeon Pro W6900X MPX, the new graphics cards have been designed to deliver a performance boost to Mac Pro’s graphics horsepower.
The tech major says that the new AMD graphics processors are ideal for demanding GPU-heavy applications like Octane X, DaVinci Resolve, Cinema 4D and Final Cut Pro.
Here is a detailed look at all the new launches from the house of Apple.
Apple’s new Magic accessories
A total of five new Magic accessories have been launched by Apple. While three of these are variants of the Magic Keyboard, the other two include a Magic Mouse and a Magic Trackpad by Apple.
Apple says that all of the new Magic accessories are wireless and rechargeable. The promised battery backup for all is about a month or more on a full charge. Once discharged, the accessories can be recharged through a USB-C to Lightning Cable for quick charging through a USB-C port on your Mac. This is an upgrade from the Lightning to USB-A cable support seen on previous Magic accessories.
As for the accessories, the Magic Keyboard now comes with new keys for Spotlight, Dictation, Do Not Disturb, and emoji. They also feature Touch ID for easy logins across services. Note that the Touch ID will only work when the keyboard is paired with an M1 Mac.
The new Magic Trackpad now comes in a refined shape, matching the new Magic Keyboard, and features the full range of Multi-Touch gestures and Force Touch technology. The Magic Mouse, on the other hand, continues to feature a smooth design for easy working. It comes with a Multi-Touch surface to allow simple gestures.
The new Magic Mouse has been priced at Rs 7,500. The Magic Trackpad will be available for Rs 12,500. The regular Magic Keyboard starts at Rs 9,500. Step up variants cost Rs 14,500 and Rs 17,500 for the Magic Keyboard with Touch ID and the Magic Keyboard with Touch ID and Numeric Keyboard respectively.
New Mac Pro graphics cards
In addition to the accessories, Apple has announced three new professional graphics cards for its Mac Pro. With these, the company promises a significant performance boost to its graphics application.
In numbers, this upgrade translates to an 84 per cent faster performance on Octane X, up to 26 per cent increase in frame rate during real-time 3D interaction in Maxon Cinema 4D and up to 23 per cent faster performance for DaVinci Resolve.
The new GPUs replace the AMD Vega II MPX Modules available with Mac Pro up until now. Going forward, Apple will offer these as configure-to-order options on new Mac Pros, as well as standalone kits for existing customers. The earlier AMD modules will no longer be available as a configurable option but can only be bought as standalone kits.
Since Mac Pro supports two MPX Modules, Apple points out that using two W6800X Duo cards can deliver a 60 teraflops of graphics performance and 128GB of memory. In addition, these GPUs also feature Infinity Fabric Link, allowing up to 4 GPUs (two Duo modules) to connect at 84GB/s per link in each direction, that is a 5 times faster speed than the PCIe bus.
Other than the performance enhancements, the new GPUs will also increase connectivity options on a Mac Pro. Each of the modules features 4 additional Thunderbolt 3 ports and an HDMI 2 port.
The Radeon Pro W6900X has been priced at Rs 6,00,000, while the Radeon Pro W6800X Duo MPX costs Rs 5,00,000. The base variant, Radeon Pro W6800X MPX comes with a price tag of Rs 2,80,000.
