In the movie, which is written by Krishna Poojappura, Anoop Menon will portray a meteorological department official.
Manoj Palodan is among the new breed of directors in Malayalam cinema who are bringing real and pressing issues to the fore with narratives inspired by real events. Just two films old in his career, Palodan has already won critical acclaim. His first film Ithu Thaanda Police was inspired by Asia’s first women’s police station, inaugurated in 1973 in Kozhikode. His second film Signature brought to the fore the burning issues of the tribal living in Attappady while capturing the scenic beauty of the place. Now, the director is all set to start work on his third film, which is still untitled.
He has announced that his third film will feature Anoop Menon as the protagonist. In the movie, which is written by Krishna Poojappura, the actor will portray a meteorological department official. The untitled film will showcase the lives of weathermen in a MET station and like Manoj’s signature style, will have elements of humour punched along with some realistic portrayal. Aziz Netumangad will also play an officer at the Meteorological Observatory. The shooting will begin on January 3 in Ernakulam and Wagamanil.
While shooting is still more than two months away, the composition of music for the film has already started. Composer Prakash Ulliyeri started scoring the music on Vijayadashami. BK Harinarayanan has penned the lyrics of the songs. Shameer Thottingal produces the movie under the Thottingal Films label.
Manoj Paladan’s previous works raise the bar for the upcoming film on meteorological department officials. In Ithu Thaanda Police, the protagonist is a male police officer whose life changes after he joins as a driver in an all-women police station. The film starred Asif Ali in the lead role. In Signature, the protagonist is a tribal man living in the picturesque locality of Attapadi in Kerala and he fights to uphold the rights of his tribal clan who face hurdles daily.
