While Pushpa 2: The Rule has opened to thunderous applause and record-breaking box office numbers, the buzz surrounding its release was dampened by a tragic incident during a screening at Sandhya Theatre in Hyderabad on Wednesday evening.
The chaos unfolded as massive crowds gathered to catch a glimpse of the film’s star, Allu Arjun, who was attending the event alongside music director Devi Sri Prasad. In the ensuing commotion, the theatre’s main gate collapsed, resulting in a stampede. A 35-year-old woman lost her life, and her 9-year-old son sustained severe injuries.
In the aftermath, fans expressed their disappointment on social media, criticising Allu Arjun for not addressing the tragedy. Many took to X (formerly Twitter) to share their dismay, expecting the superstar to respond promptly to the incident.
However, Sarath Chandra Naidu, head of content and digital for Allu Arjun, later clarified the steps taken by the actor’s team. He revealed that the film’s producer had personally visited the hospital, spoken to doctors, and ensured financial assistance for the child’s treatment. Chandranaidu also assured fans that Allu Arjun’s team would visit the family of the deceased woman to offer their support.
“The incident that occurred yesterday at Sandhya theatre is truly unfortunate. The boy is currently receiving treatment in the hospital. Our team will personally visit the family and provide the necessary support. We are committed to addressing this matter,” wrote Sarath Chandra. In a separate tweet, he added, “Bunny Vas Garu visited the hospital, personally spoke to the doctors and ensured that the necessary financial assistance for the child’s treatment was provided from our side. Not every update is shared on social media. The team is deeply committed on supporting the family in every possible way.”
