As the New Year 2025 approaches, cine-goers can bid farewell to 2024 by celebrating the unforgettable silver-screen pairings that captivated audiences this year. The year introduced several fresh on-screen duos, whose chemistry and performances left an indelible mark, while also reuniting beloved pairings that sent fans into a frenzy.
Among the most talked-about new pairings were Hrithik Roshan and Deepika Padukone in Fighter, and Triptii Dimri alongside Kartik Aaryan in Bhool Bhulaiyaa 3. Both duos brought fresh energy and charm to the big screen. Meanwhile, iconic pairs such as Allu Arjun and Rashmika Mandanna in Pushpa 2: The Rule, and Rajkummar Rao and Shraddha Kapoor in Stree 2 reunited for the highly anticipated sequels of their blockbuster hits, rekindling the magic of their on-screen chemistry.
1. Allu Arjun-Rashmika Mandanna
Allu Arjun and Rashmika Mandanna were cherished and loved when they appeared alongside each other in Pushpa: The Rise in 2021. With the humongous success of Pushpa 2: The Rule, which hit screens on December 5, Allu Arjun and Rashmika Mandanna have gone on to prove yet again that the jodi of Pusha Raj and Srivalli is here to stay for long.
Pushpa 2: The Rule has raked in Rs 1719 crore worldwide in just 22 days since its release, becoming one of the biggest blockbuster of all time. From the much-loved Srivalli song in the first film to Peelings in the second instalment, the on-screen bonding of Allu Arjun and Rashmika Mandanna continues to mesmerise fans on the silver screen.
2. Shraddha Kapoor-Rajkummar Rao
Not many expected when Shraddha Kapoor and Rajkummar Rao will return to theatres with Stree 2, the horror comedy will shatter most of the records at the box office. According to reports, the film achieved a worldwide gross of Rs 858.4 crore, while its total collection in India stood at Rs 605.8 crore.
3. Triptii Dimri-Kartik Aaryan
Post the success of Rooh Baba in Bhool Bhulaiyaa 2, Kartik Aaryan returned with his popular character in the third instalment this year. Unlike the previous film where he was seen opposite Kiara Advani, the audiences witnessed his on-screen chemistry with Triptii Dimri this time.
Despite witnessing a clash with mega-budget Singham Again, Bhool Bhulaiyaa 3 managed to collect well over Rs 400 crore at the worldwide box office. The duo of Triptii Dimri and Kartik Aaryan was praised for their on-screen chemistry.
4. Hrithik Roshan-Deepika Padukone
The two powerhouses of Bollywood, Hrithik Roshan and Deepika Padukone, were seen opposite each other in Siddharth Anand’s Fighter this year. While Hrithik Roshan and Deepika Padukone have been a part of the entertainment industry for the past few decades, they were seen together on-screen for the first time in Fighter. The audience’s response to their pairing was quite positive. Fighter collected almost Rs 350 crore during its lifetime run at the box office.
5. Lakshya-Tanya Maniktala
Kill was among those films which left a mark in the action thriller genre this year. The Nikhil Nagesh Bhat directorial also received praises for the on-screen pairing of Lakshya as NSG Commando Amrit Rathod and his love interest Tulika Singh, essayed by Tanya Maniktala.
