Alia Bhatt is not just playing the lead in Jigra but is also producing it. The film will hit theatres in September 2024.
Alia Bhatt recently announced her upcoming movie titled Jigra. Alia is not just playing the lead in the film but is also producing it. In a recent interview, Alia opened up about venturing into production and shared that it is ‘exciting and overwhelming’ at the same time.
“I believe stories are everywhere, and stories are everything! I turned producer with Eternal Sunshine to tell some of these stories, ones that evoke emotions and leave an impact. Our first production, Darlings, got so much love that it was exciting and overwhelming at the same time,” Alia said as quoted by Film Companion.
The 30-year-old actress further talked about Jigra and opened up about its plot. She revealed that the film is a story of ‘courage, passion and determination’. “Just a little over a year later, we are ready to launch our second production – Jigra, a beautiful story of courage, passion and determination. I hope to consistently support compelling narratives that are authentic, and enduringly timeless and work with brilliant creative minds to bring them alive,” Alia added.
Earlier this month, Alia announced Jigra with its first look video which begins with a quote by GK Chesterton flashing on the screen. The quote reads, “The paradox of courage is that one must be a little careless of life in order to keep it.” The video then proceeds to show Alia with a bag on her shoulder. She is standing in the streets of what seems to be Japan.
Jigra is directed by Vasan Bala and is produced by Karan Johar. Sharing the video on his Instagram handle, KJo had written, “The return of…my #Jigra, @aliaabhatt once again on this exceptional story helmed by @vasanbala. A story of unbreakable love & unshakable courage! JIGRA – in cinemas on 27th September 2024.”
