Aditya Roy Kapur made his full-fledged acting debut in Bollywood with the 2013 film Aashiqui 2. He won over the hearts of the audience with his acting prowess and stunning body. Aditya went on to essay several diverse roles in his career – from the lovable Aditya in Ok Jaanu to the mysterious Shaan in The Night Manager. In his 2020 film Malang, Aditya essayed the role of Advait Thakur, an introvert who falls in love with a free-spirited girl named Sara (played by Disha Patani) on a trip to Goa. They then get entangled in the story of a corrupt, drug-addict cop. In an interesting turn of events, Advait ventures onto a revenge spree. While the film did not perform well at the box office, Aditya Roy Kapur won the audience’s hearts for his stunning good looks, especially when he appeared shirtless in a jail scene.
These intense action looks and sequences in the film showed a different side of Aditya Roy Kapur, who was otherwise loved for his romantic hero avatar. In a recent interview with Film Companion, Aditya spoke about how he enjoyed doing action films, the kind of prep he does and the viral Malang shirtless sequence. He said, “I think rehearsal is imperative, you have to have enough time to rehearse. I’ve realised it is really important because then it actually makes sense because you’re saving time on set as well if you’re there you’re trying to learn it. It’s very similar to dance in the sense that you kind of mimicking.” Talking about the viral scene, he said, “In Malang, the shirt was never supposed to come off, Mohit just said tear shirt!! Do it and it just happened.”
